WayStar Group Successfully Delivered a TEM2 Shunting Locomotive Project Tailored to a Client's Operational Needs

25.08.2025

WayStar Group successfully completed a comprehensive project involving the selection, inspection, and delivery of a TEM2 series shunting locomotive for an industrial enterprise.

The project was initiated at the request of a key partner who, while handling more than 40 railcars per day, faced the economic inefficiency of leasing locomotives. As a result, the decision was made to purchase a dedicated locomotive for long-term operation.

Within a short period, WayStar Group specialists organized a search for suitable options across the CIS market. The optimal solution was identified in Kostanay, Kazakhstan. During the first week, a complete inspection process was carried out, including an independent technical assessment, an on-site specialist visit, photo and video verification, and a review of all technical documentation.

The evaluation confirmed the locomotive's reliability, successful completion of major overhaul works, and sufficient remaining service life. Following client approval, WayStar Group purchased the equipment and arranged mandatory rheostatic testing, which successfully verified compliance with all operational requirements.

The locomotive was then transported from Kostanay station to Semey station under full supervision throughout the transportation process and subsequently delivered to the customer's production facility.

Today, the locomotive is fully operational and performs shunting activities on a regular basis. This has enabled the client to eliminate leasing expenses, reduce operating costs, and improve the efficiency of internal logistics operations.

This project serves as a clear example of WayStar Group's integrated approach — from sourcing and technical evaluation to delivery and commissioning — with a strong focus on rapid implementation and risk reduction for the customer.
